HENRI CROW | Acrylic & Mixed Media | 76x76 cm • 30x30 in

Terracotta

Terracotta by Henri Crow was created in imitation of nature, inspired by the stony ground of Arizona. Coloured pieces of concrete were embedded into the surface, forming a relief-like structure. Over this, Crow applied layered shades of red, brown, beige, and terracotta, resulting in a composition rich with depth and dynamic tonal variations. Terracotta was created in imitation of nature, inspired by the earth, or rather the stony ground in Arizona. I incorporated coloured pieces of concrete into the substrate, forming a relief-like structure, over which I then applied various shades of red, brown, beige and terracotta. This created exciting colour shades.

Artist’s Vision

Henri Crow

Henri Crow’s abstract paintings draw inspiration from natural processes, such as the flow of water and the traces it leaves behind. He begins by building textured, relief-like surfaces with natural materials, allowing paint to move freely across them. As colors run and layer, organic borders and structures emerge, suggesting landscapes in motion and evoking the rhythms of nature itself. Through this process, Crow creates spaces where movement and stillness coexist, balancing chance and intention, inviting viewers to experience both the energy of creation and the quiet reflection within each layered composition. Through these paintings, Crow invites viewers to reflect on the rhythms of life, the flow of energy, and the quiet depth within each moment.
